JANUARY 25TH, 2021

PowerHouse Studios has started a new inititive - our Artist-In-Residence Program.

Artist-in-residence programs give artists the opportunity to live and work outside of their usual environments, providing them with time to reflect, research and produce work.

The artists are able to use our space and create experimental material with our Performing Team, with the possibility of a public display for a live audience at the end of the season.

Our first artist is Dr. John Hunte. John Hunte is an accomplished dancer and arts activist. He apprenticed with NDTC from 1987 to 1991. He completed a PhD in cultural studies from the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies and worked as the Cultural Officer – Dance at the National Cultural Foundation in Barbados 2011-2015. He teaches part-time at BCC and UWI while working at the Barbados Dance Project Inc. as its Executive Director and with the Barbados Dance Theatre Company as its Artistic Director.
